Mama Tran Vietnamese - 5 mins from Mountway

Published on Thursday 13th August 2015

Perth has quite a few Vietnamese restaruants, with Viet Hoa in Northbridge being one of our personal favourites for a night out. However sometimes you want a quick bite to eat before you head out to do other things, or even go back home to relax. Another great place to grab a quick taste of Vietnamese cuisine is Mama Tran.

With kitchens in Milligan Street Perth, Carillon City, Lakeside Joondalup and Claremont Quarter, Mama Tran offers fresh, tasty and authentic Vietnamese at good prices. The Milligan Street kitchen is an extremely popular lunch spot in the CBD, with the bench-style tables crammed with office workers and steaming bowls of their traditional Pho.

In addition the Milligan Street kitchen also features a small ‘store’ or market which stocks authentic Vietnamese supplies. Everything you need to try and recreate a taste of Vietnam at home.

This time we went to Mama Tran for dinner and the pace was quite different. The kitchen transformed from the noisy hustle and bustle we came to know and love during the peak lunch period to a more subdued and relaxing atmosphere at dinner time.

Our personal favourites were the Pho Tai - rice noodle soup with rare beef, and Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong - rice vermicelli salad with grilled pork and spring rolls. Other classics that we will have to try next time are Banh Mi Thit and their tasty rice paper rolls.

For guests who want a reasonably priced, no-fuss tasty dinner, Mama Tran on Milligan Street is only a quick 5-minute walk from Mountway Holiday Apartments. Simply cross the bridge over the Freeway and continue on Mount Street until you reach the traffic lights on St Georges Terrace and head down Milligan Street.

If you are interested in other food locations and attractions in Perth, we will be updating our Mountway Guest Map in the coming months. The map will be updated with a whole new bunch of attractions nearby to Mountway and in Perth City and will include new and improved features so stay tuned!
