Christmas in Perth

Published on Saturday 5th December 2015

December is here and you may have noticed the Christmas decorations in Perth City, the Christmas carols on repeat in every retail store and of course Christmas themed foods and products on sale.

Only a few weeks ago, we blogged about the Christmas lights being officially turned on in Forrest Place.

Christmas is a widely celebrated event in Perth, with this week being the start of a month-long anticipation of the arrival of Father Christmas.

From Thursday 3 December, the GPO building in Forrest Place became alight with Christmas themed illuminations after sunset. See Queenie the Quokka celebrate Christmas around the world! The projections will run until 23 December 2015.

Music-wise, we have the Symphony in the City on 12 December in Langley Park, with classical favourites performed by WASO and the WASO chorus, underneath the stars and finished off with a firework display. A free event that is perfect for the family the enjoy.

Of course Christmas would not be complete without Christmas carols! Christmas carols in the park is past time treasured by most families. The IGA Carols by Candlelight is a perfect way to ‘sing’ in Christmas, with the carols taking place on 20 December 2015 in Langley park. Bring your family, picnic rug and thermos of hot chocolate and of course, your singing pipes!

As we have mentioned in a previous post about Northbridge Piazza, the Piazza is a great place to spend time with the family and watch some flicks. December will be no different with Festive Flicks being played at Northbridge Piazza throughout December, with classics such as Home Alone, The Grinch and Christmas romantic comedies such as Love Actually and Bridget Jones Diary.

So there you have it, the best things Perth has on offer this Christmas. We better be sure we behave and get ready for Santa!
