WA teams top two for AFL finals

Published on Thursday 10th September 2015

What a year it has been for WA footy fans in 2015! The conclusion of Round 23 last weekend saw the top four teams resting their major players before the finals and some interesting upsets.

What was certain for a few weeks now was that the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles would seal their top 1 and 2 spots on the ladder respectively. Now we know who their opponents will be for the first week of finals.

Being the top 2 teams, this means that both teams will be having a home final. The top team of the whole season, Fremantle will face off against the Sydney Swans this Saturday afternoon, while the Eagles will be playing their home game against Hawthorn on Friday night.

Both games will take place at Domain Stadium (formerly known as Patterson’s Stadium) in Subiaco. For guests of Mountway Holiday Apartments attending the home finals, Subiaco is very accessible from Mountway, both via the Fremantle Train line (disembark at West Leederville Station) and by car.

For guests not attending the game, please be mindful of traffic congestion around the times of the game. If you ever need advice on navigating during these peak traffic and other handy tips, feel free to talk to any of our friendly staff on reception.

Fans of both teams in WA will be holding their breath to see which teams emerge in the AFL Grand Final. Will it be a Derby Final? Will the Eagles finally emerge from a dark decade to claim the trophy, or will Fremantle finally get a taste of victory and win their maiden Grand Final?

Definitely a lot of mixed feelings here at Mountway, with supporters on both sides. We would love to know:

  • Are you attending any of the home final games?
  • Which team do you go for? Fremantle Dockers or the West Coast Eagles?

Tell us in the comments below! All we can say at this point is, Go Western Australia!
