Janelle's time in Perth

Published on Monday 10th December 2012

Occasionally we ask guests to tell us about their time in Perth as we are interested to know what they did with their time and how the Mountway Holiday Apartments suited their requirements.

I'm Janelle Gray from the Gold Coast, QLD, currently having an adventure hanging out in Perth WA, with my cousin Katrina who attended the conference at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre between 1 -7 December 2012.

The conference organisers advertised Mountway Holiday Apartments on Mount St West Perth, as one of the Perth accommodation choices. The friendly staff greeted us and showed us the Perth Mountway Map so it was easy to find our way down to the convention centre.  We were tired, after a long flight, and the rooms were ready earlier than 2pm so we got into the apartment early and rested before finding out just how centrally located Mountway was to the Perth CBD. It’s was very convenient for my cousin to get to the conference centre and the walk home was an easy 5 minute walk. The Perth Mountway Map made it very easy to get to everything we needed, from shops in the city, the Perth Bell Tower, the ferry across to South Perth and many shopping transport and sightseeing locations.

We were amazed by was the public transport. From Perth Airport we caught number 37  bus to the city, which took approximately 45 mins for $2.40. We liked travelling on the bus through the suburbs of Belmont and Victoria Park even though we were tired.  We got off the bus on Malcolm Street and from there, we had a short walk down the cycle way to Mountway.  The free CAT bus services around the city are great. It also did not take us long to walk to the train station, where we went all the way to Fremantle where the big ferris wheel is located. We didn't get to see the Fremantle Gaol., but we took a coffee at the Capucchino Strip. The place was a real buzz and seems a lot more cosmo than the Gold Coast.

I also chose to go to Perth Zoo, by taking the ferry from the Bell Tower Jetty across to South Perth. The Perth Zoo was amazing they had so many different varieties of animals. I especially liked the African Safari, which houses animals in separate areas such as lions, bears, tigers, giraffes, and elephants. I enjoyed the African Safari the most because the animals can roam around their spacious enclosures. All-in-all, I have had the best adventure here in Perth, and will definitely be coming back again. Our Perth Apartments suited us just fine.
